UK 2007: Return to the Motherland

A lovely Scottish Sunset...

For anyone who cares what I do or think about, which is most of you since you're reading this, i just returned from a 10 day, hastily decided upon, poorly planned trip to Great Britain. I went with a couple long time friends Brian Sutton and Tyler Willardson who, bless their hearts, elected to travel with me (despite both having previously experienced that little treasure and most likely against their better judgment) and who did not know one another. Despite these handicaps the trip went rather well.
I was really excited to go since the bulk of my ancestry originates from the British isles, mostly Wales and Scotland. (I think.) Tovey is a Welsh name and so is my mother's maiden name Meigs. So going to my personal "motherland" was a little sentimental for me. And I'm glad i went. I won't go into a detailed explanation of my travel log here other than to list the towns we visited in chronological order. Then I'll let the pictures i took do all the talking. I really wanted this to be a photo journey for me, but being in the company of others it's not ideal to stop and take loads of pictures. Nonetheless, i took 750. This new digital age is something else. (I calculate that to buy the film, develop it, make single prints, and a CD of 750 images would have cost me about $416; half the cost of my camera.)
Anyways... here's where we went in chronological order:
LONDON
Cardiff, WALES
Merthyr Tydfill, WALES
Monmouth, WALES
Manchester, ENGLAND
Edinburgh, SCOTLAND
St. Andrews, Dundee, Stonehaven, Aberdeen SCOTLAND
Glascow, SCOTLAND
Liverpool, ENGLAND
LONDON

Now enjoy some pictures...

Woman in Manchester playing Accordion... she was terrible. I gave her a pound anyway.

The Tree Drain in Aberdeen, Scotland

Our Renault rental car. Shifting with your left hand is weird.

The owner of our "bed & breakfast" in Edinburgh. Very proud of her Irish fiver. What a dive.

Overlooking Edinburgh. Atop this mountain is where Orson Pratt dedicated Scotland for missionary work.

Brian on steps in Edinburgh

The Royal British Hotel in Edinburgh. For some reason I just liked this picture....

We stopped to take pictures of the sunset in Scotland. Climbed over this rock wall to do so.

Tyler Willardson can shred.

Time elapsed photo of "Big Ben." A double decker bus passed by... but luckily didn't "crash into us."
